In good shape during the holidays

Here I will share some of my tips on how to stay fit and healthy during the upcoming holidays

Christmas and New Year always become a real challenge when it comes to a healthy lifestyle and being fit. Heavy, greasy and full of sugar food and alcohol will be lurking everywhere.

Christmas holidays are associated with more social engagements, family and company gatherings, celebrations, so food and drinks are plentiful, which often leads to excessive stress on the body and harmful consequences for our health. It's important to find the balance to feel good physically and mentally during and after the holidays.

I will tell you how I act:

1. Relax your mind

Everyone will sin with sweets, fatty food and alcohol, myself included. I recommend not stressing too much, but accept that you won't be 100% with your training and diet, which is normal. Really normal. The diet should be flexible at such times. Who doesn't need a break?

The important thing is to realize that this is about to happen, otherwise if we constantly feel remorse, we can only harm ourselves. After all, we don't want to be stressed, depressed and have an eating disorder during the holidays, for example. Find the balance and don't go to extremes. They are more dangerous than the food itself!

2. No overeating and no skipping meals during the day

Skipping meals during the day, waiting for the dinner, necessarily leads then to overeating. Don't do it! Sweet and salty delights will be plentiful for a long period of time, so don't overdo it, but consume in moderation. Everything doesn't have to be tasted and eaten in one day. Food nowadays is plentiful and will never run out. So, enjoy without rushing and abusing the quantities.

In these moments, choose delicious food - what you like the most and what you have been dreaming about for a long time - food that is not on your menu during the rest of the year. Serve in small portions!

3. Hydration

Let's not forget to hydrate our body well enough. The practice with my clients shows that people drink a little water in their daily routine. This slows down the functioning of all systems in our body. Water helps us with better digestion, sounder sleep and overall hydration of the body, which gives us beautiful and radiant skin. Our digestive system will be busier than usual during the holidays, so drinking enough water will help process food, keep your metabolism running smoothly, and burn calories faster.

4. Physical activity

Last but not least, it is important to stay physically active. Combine the useful with the pleasant - a walk with family or friends for at least 60-90 minutes outside, if not every day, then at least 4-5 times a week - the park or the mountain are great choices, and why not a snowball fight or dancing? With physical activity, we will increase the energy consumption of the body and we will absorb most of the excess calories accepted during the holidays.

These are my 4 tips for a really good holiday season. A few days of enjoying delicious and unhealthy food, in larger portions, is unlikely to erase the long-term progress you've made!

I can now wish you unforgettable holiday moments with your families and friends.

I can already feel Christmas in the air…
